Debug Menu in Safari 3.1, wie geht das?

Apple’s Safari 3.1 Browser ist da, dann will man natürlich auch den Webinspector nutzen.

Das ging bei der vorigen Windows Version 3.0, indem man die Datei Preferences.plist editiert hat und einen Eintrag hinzufügte.

Nur – wo ist diese Datei bei der Version 3.1 geblieben? Nach dem Update gibt es diese Preferences.plist nicht mehr! (Where is the “Debug” menu after the update?)

Es ist nun viel einfacher: der Webinspector, die Error Console, die Network Timeline und der Snippet Editor sind nun integriert und finden sich im Menu ‘Develop’. (Enable Debug Menu in Safari 3.1: Go to the Advanced tab in Preferences and check the box “Show Develop menu in menu bar”.)

Falls das nicht in der Menubar zu finden ist, dann kann man das unter dem Advanced tab in den Preferences einschalten: ‘Show Develop menu in menu bar’.

Ich nutze den Safari mit seinem Webinspector um mir meine Seiten auch mal von einer ‘anderen Seite’ zu betrachten.

Das ist sehr hilfreich, wenn man sich fragt: warum sieht die eigene Seite unter Safari anders aus als unter Firefox oder IE Internet Explorer?

Bevorzugen tue ich jedoch den Firefox zusammen mit Firebug, Dust-Me Selectors und YSlow.

Wenn alles nicht hilft, darf auch mal der IE mit dem DOM Explorer sein Glück versuchen.
