On updating the WordPress plugin Conditional CAPTCHA (wp-conditional-captcha) I changed the plugin settings and ticked ‚Use the new (No CAPTCHA) ReCAPTCHA‘
Oh wonder, the preview of the CAPTCHA page gave me an error: ERROR: Invalid domain for site key
I know, for years I didn’t visit http://www.google.com/recaptcha to change any settings, my old keys worked on any site.
I had only one site registered, Domain Name: global.anysite.com
On logging in to google recaptcha I found my global site entry not valid for the new ‚No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA‚
First there is a new set of keys in your account, second you have to enter all domain names or TLDs you want to use with reCAPTCHA.
reCAPTCHA will work for the domain and its subdomain variations, so no subdomains are needed.
That’s quite easy, just enter a list of your domains.
Finally, coming back to the WordPress plugin Conditional CAPTCHA, use here your new keys and tick ‚Use the new (No CAPTCHA) ReCAPTCHA‘
The preview of the CAPTCHA page will show you the new CAPTCHA !!
With the plugin enabled, you do not need to change any theme files – as before, do not care about the suggestion from google Captcha site how to render the reCAPTCHA widget.
wp-conditional-captcha will load the required script in the pop up window only (what is much better than loading it on all impressions)
