My suggestion would be:
If you want to go with a theme using timthumb, try to get Arthemia running as it is first.
For a theme like this it is important! to have more than only three posts in your blog.
Arthemia needs at least one post in category ‚Headline‘ plus four posts in category ‚Featured‘ plus the five posts in the list below (posts_per_page=5) plus one or two more posts to get pagination working.
Makes let’s say 12 posts.
Additionally to Headline and Featured categories you should have more categories to fill the category bar.
As timthumb is still beeing updated, try to get the latest version of timthumb, the link you find here: topic/images-not-showing-on-homepage-thumbphp-issue
currently they have timthumb – Revision 133: /trunk ‚VERSION‘, ‚1.26‘ to download.
A theme is just the ‚envelope‘ for your content! Put some content first (best with twentyten) and only than start to design something around.
Creating a theme I never thought about using it for an empty site with three posts only, no wonder it says ’nothing found‘
To fill to columns side by side with posts you need to have these posts first, this you should understand.
Anyway, as I said already, timthumb is obsolete and makes more work to edit or create posts.
Go for a theme using the Post Thumbnail Option built in WordPress, this resizes your images on the fly while creating a post and keeps images in one folder, your upload folder.
