you are right, the Jubel and the Unessentials Forum is not working. No idea why, I had never contact with the arthemia creators (and they didn’t write anything in their forum for more than one year)

Most of drop downs go down, they are styled lists from top to bottom.
So I do not know how to get a ’sideways‘ dropdown (it’s actually just copying the styles of any menu you like on another site)
Your "Empowerment Journals" are categories, you can’t comment on a category.
Okay, you have in each of this categories only one post (why?). You can comment on a post, but clicking on the title of your post brings you not to the single post with the comment field but to your ‚Subscribe‘ page.
It’s a strange way to use categories as posts – that’s what you actually do.
In your Thought of the Day category you display a post in the featured section, that’s why you can comment on that.
The only solution I could imagine about comments on your categories is to display the posts of this categories in the category bar
