Thank you both so much for your help! I was finally able to correct this problem of duplication. In the future, I hope this thread will assist others.
One of my Featured stories was breaking the design and I eventually realized that this particular story’s image was being called from the sidebar widget’s "frontpage_gallery" which is incompatible for the Featured thumbnail images.
Anyways, I am very grateful for your help! I’m hoping this site will go live within a couple weeks.
