Like many themes this one is using <?php the_excerpt() ?>
There are quite a few ways to set the length of this text by coding something in your theme files (see: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6 )
Most easy is in your post editor, there is a field for a custom excerpt. Just copy the part of text you want to show from the upper editor down into this field and wordpress will take this text as the_excerpt.
Means you can set the length (and the content to show) here manually as you like.
